Loutzavia Training Courses
“The aim of education is the knowledge not of facts but of values.” W.R Inge
Below you will find all the training courses available at Loutzavia.
These professional pilot courses has been specifically designed and streamlined by our Chief Flying Instructor, Jannie Loutzis. Jannie has more than 26 years of flying experience, including 20 years in training, and an excess of 8000 flying hours.
Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is the take-off to your career in Aviation, or the gateway to recreational flying. A PPL allows you to do private flights, and to train further for a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in order to work commercially as a pilot. Training can be done on a full-time or part-time basis. The PPL course is a very important first step in your life as a pilot. However, it is important to first complete an INTRODUCTORY TRAINING FLIGHT with an Instructor to serve as a deciding factor for your career
Night Rating Course
After completing your PPL it is recommended that you obtain a Night Rating. The Night Rating enables you to fly at night (15 minutes after sunset to 15 minutes before sunrise). This Rating is usually done towards training for your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). You will be permitted to start your Night Rating any time after the completion of your PPL (Private Pilot Licence).
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is the qualification you will require in order to take up flying as a career. If you are interested in flying for an Airline in the future, it is the gateway to your Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
An Instrument Rating (IR) is the Rating that will allow you to fly in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). These are conditions of poor visibility, low cloud base and generally adverse weather. The Rating qualifies you to fly an Aircraft relying solely on its Flight Instruments. You can commence the Instrument Rating Course when you have approximately 140 to 150 hours flight experience
Multi Engine Rating
A Multi-Engine rating qualifies you to fly an Aircraft with more than one engine. Loutzavia Flight Training Centre uses several Beechcraft Baron BE55 Aircraft, powered by two 260 HP fuel-injected Continental engines. (To view the aircraft visit our Advanced Training Fleet). Part of the Multi-Engine Training can be done on our Frasca Tru-Flight Simulator. It is a safe and more cost–effective alternative. (To view our state of the art simulator visit Our Simulator).
Trained to Instruct Package
The “Trained to Instruct” Commercial Pilot’s Course was specifically designed by our in-house Grade I Flying Instructor and Designated Examiner, Jannie Loutzis. Jannie has some 26 years flying experience, including 20 years training experience, during which he has accumulated an excess of 8000 flying hours.
Your Instructors Rating enables you, as Commercial Pilot, to act as a Grade III Flight Instructor. This means you will be able to give initial Flight Instruction on the Aircraft types that you are rated on.
Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
If flying for the Airlines is your dream, you will need an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). This is the highest level qualification for your pilot’s Licences. Your Airline Transport Pilot Licence allows you to captain aircraft weighing over 5700 kg
